Entries are now being accepted for the 2011 Campus Excellence in Journalism contest.

The California Newspaper Publishers Association (CNPA) is pleased to announce the kick-off to the 2011 Campus Excellence in Journalism Contest. As the event grows each year, we are excited to promote the next generation of journalists through our efforts.

New to this year's contest are three additional categories for student newspapers to enter: Best Writing, Best Photography and Best Sports Story. We will continue to accept entries in the General Excellence category as well.

The contest period is August 2011, through January   2012.

Winners will receive consolidated plaques designed to be a showcase for your school's wall. The BNC awards luncheon will be on Saturday, May 5, 2012, during CNPA's Press Summit at The DoubleTree by Hilton San Jose. The BNC Awards Presentation will showcase all winners along with a selection of winning photos and best videos encompassing one of the best digital awards shows yet. This will be a must-see event for 2012.

The CNPA Better Newspapers Contest is California's foremost awards program for outstanding journalistic achievements. Good luck on your entries for 2011.

The postmark deadline for entries is Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2012.
