independent, student-run newspaper serving the UC Berkeley campus and its surrounding community, is seeking a highly motivated self-starter to achieve national advertising revenue objectives, and diversify the agency and client base in this ad category. Revenue is critical to the Daily Cal so the national ad manger must be able to ramp up fast and close deals quickly. Essential functions include keeping the company abreast of industry developments and best practices. Professional growth opportunities include participation in company-wide strategic planning initiatives and university network associations.

The ideal candidate will be able to work independently while effectively managing multiple tasks and deadlines. Knowledge of the 18-24-year-old demographic is a plus, as is experience in San Francisco Bay Area media sales.

Experience required: 10 years media sales management experience in a fast-paced work environment. Strong track record of sales achievement.

Skills required: MS office suite, Internet, Red Books data base usage.
Strong presentation, verbal, and written communication ability.

Compensation consists of a base salary and percentage of sales with an upside potential for any sales goals that are exceeded.

This is a part-time position requiring at least 25 hours per week. The job allows for work from a home office with regular meetings conducted in person or by Skype.
