Jim Gleim has been named Group Vice President for the Northern California Newspaper Group and Publisher of The Reporter, the Vallejo Times-Herald and the Woodland Daily Democrat. His first official day will be Oct. 26.
Steve Rossi, president and CEO of MediaNews Group's California Newpapers Partnership, made the announcement Thursday.
Gleim was previously a vice president and general manager of two different divisions of Move, Inc., the parent company of Realtor.com. Prior to that he was executive vice president and general manager of F&W Publications, a leading publisher of enthusiast periodicals and books. Before that, he spent 17 years as a publisher of community newspapers and as a group vice president and COO of three different regional newspaper divisions of Thomson Newspapers.
"Jim's unique combination of experience in newspapers, niche publications and Internet real estate products makes him an ideal fit for his new position," Rossi said.
He and his wife will be relocating to Northern California from Sherwood, Wisc. in the near future.
Gleim takes the post previously held by Steve Smith, who has taken a position as Senior Vice President of Publisher Relations with Publishing Group of America in Tennessee.
