"I don't want to go into the future looking into the rearview mirror," new Freedom Communications CEO Mitch Stern tells The Orange County Register.
"People are back to putting our full attention on our customers. We're not in quicksand. We're strictly grounded now, focused on improvements."
And the new chief of Irvine-based Freedom is a staunch fan of newspapers: "I believe newspapers are at the very foundation of this country and of delivering information and entertainment through the community. I read four newspapers including my local community paper. It's the only place I can get that news. That's not going to change."
As reported previously, Stern had been in broadcasting with Fox and with DirectTV and succeeds Burl Osborne, who had been interim CEO since the departure of Scott Flanders in July 2009.
