CNPA 2010 Press Summit

Mar 30, 2010

CNPA 2010 Press Summit, Monterey Plaza Hotel, April 15-17, 2010

Friday, April 16, 2010, 8:30 to 10:00 a.m.
General Session III:  Resource Roundtables

Next month’s Summit attendees will not want to miss the General Session on Friday at 8:30 a.m., hosted by CNPA Board Secretary-Treasurer Amy Pack. The Resource Roundtables will match newspaper representatives with their business partners (and some of the Summit sponsors), to share the exciting things they are doing together. Table discussion leaders will also include representatives from CNPA, CNPA member newspapers, and affiliates to share revenue and cost cutting ideas, as well as emerging legal concerns. This new session promises to be engaging, interactive, and informative.

Here’s how it works: the room will have more than 12 round tables of eight. Each table will have a designated topic, and Summit attendees will visit up to four tables over the hour-and-a-half session. Discussions at each table will be moderated by a newspaper representative and/or by a newspaper with one of the Summit sponsors. Attendees will visit the tables of their choice, learn from newspaper representatives about that topic, and hear from them and their business partners (and our sponsors), what they do together, and the results. Attendees will also be able to visit the sponsor tables positioned around the perimeter of the room. This is a great opportunity to share your ideas and to learn from others!

Topics include:  Revenue Sharing and Cost-Cutting/Efficiency Ideas; First Amendment and Online Related Legal Issues; Alternate Distribution Products and Services; Online Content and Monetization; and CNPA Revenue-Generating Services. To date and subject to change, participants include:

Ken Higdon, CIPS Marketing
Robert Hall, PCF (Publishers Circulation Fulfillment, Inc.)
David Morel, ACI (American Circulation Innovations)
Mark Hawley, Tactician Media LLC, and Michael Clarke, San Jose Mercury News
Karl Olson, Ram & Olson LLP, and Joyce Terhaar, managing editor for content, The Sacramento Bee
Duffy Carolan, Davis Wright Tremaine LLP
Myles Mellor, Myles Mellor ThemeCrosswords, and Dan Brown, The Modesto Bee
Linda Rowlee, TownNews.com
Debra Godshall, publisher, Half Moon Bay Review, on Revenue Ideas
Mike Glickenhaus, VMIX Media
David Fowler, Ads-Up, LLC
Maria Rodrigues, CNPA Banner Ad Network, with Eric Johnston, The Modesto Bee, and Greg Harmon, ITZ Belden

Don’t miss it. There will be enough ideas and information exchanged at this session to cover the cost of the Summit.
